Mimi Porter is a nationally recognized leader in the promotion and application of Equine Therapy. She is also an accomplished author of several books on this important topic, an educator, and owner of Equine Therapy, Inc. in Lexington, KY. Equine Therapy, Inc., her therapy service company, provides love, attention and therapeutic skills to horses in the Bluegrass Region following surgery or injury. In addition, Mimi has created a four-year curriculum at Midway College, the first college-level curriculum in Equine Therapy in the United States. Her professional life as an Equine Therapist has taken her all over the world from Ireland to Dubai and to the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia, where she was the first Equine Therapist to serve as a member of the Olympic staff. Orange Clover Farms’ Equine Therapy and Training Center is the first of its kind in Southwest Florida. Our state of the art facility offers a place for sport horses to recover from injuries or surgeries while receiving further conditioning and training. Equine patients receive a variety of rehabilitative therapies and treatments in our full service boarding facility per veterinary recommendation. We are one of the first facilities in the country to offer the use of an Equine Underwater Treadmill in addition to other alternative therapies. Our goal is a synergetic relationship between horse owners, veterinarians, and therapists for the benefit of the equine athlete. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have or to arrange a personalized tour of our facility. “Disclaimer”: It is important to understand that we, as Equine Therapists, provide secondary care to horses. That means that we follow a complete veterinary diagnosis and maintain open lines of communication with the veterinarian in charge of the case. The Equine Therapist and the Veterinarian confer on the rehabilitation plan for the horse to achieve the best outcome.
